September Tide is set in 1948 in du Maurier's beloved Cornwall and tells the story of the widowed Stella, a middle aged woman of considerable gifts and beauty. Cherry, Stella's daughter, brings home for the first time her artist husband, Evan, and Stella soon finds herself attracted to him. The play delicately explores their developing relationship as the September Tide and gales batter the Cornish coast.
