Socials in 2026  

We've had many pleasant socials already in 2026 both at our end of month gatherings at the Quay and our 'mid month' get togethers at a suitable hostelry in Sudbury - usually the Brewery tap or the Wagon. Along with general 'drink and chat' sessions, we've had a few themed gatherings including a 'Burns Lunchtime' to coincide with Burns Night which fell on the same day, and a few Quizzes compiled and delivered by Helen and Neil A where teams of four battled it out for...well, just the honour of winning! Great fun as always.

Our next Sunday social is a mid-month gathering at the Wagon on August 16th. Please note the end of month social is also at the Wagon (not the Quay) on Sunday August 30th.

Future Social dates

Below are the remaining 2026 dates for the all the 'last Sunday of the month' Sunday socials to be held in the Quay bar usually from around 12.30pm, so jot them down in your diary! We'll also be adding more 'mid month' Sunday socials held in usually the Brewery Tap or the Wagon in Sudbury (also from around 12.30pm) - watch this space!

SDS Socials 

For a while now we've organised a series of enjoyable socials usually on the last Sunday of the month mostly in the Quay bar, and a 'mid month' gathering in a local hostelry - usually The Wagon in the late spring/summer, and the Brewery Tap in the autumn and winter. Along with the familar drink and a chat gathering, we've run various events such as quizzes and bar bingo, so remember to join us on the last Sunday lunchtime each month, and look out for the 'extra' lunchtime socials - usually around the second Sunday lunchtime each month but check here and on our Facebook group page.  

Any ideas?

What we'd like from you super folk are ideas for further events - preferably realistic and affordable. Bungee jumping is all well and good, but most of us haven’t got the bladder control or the knees to deal with it! Please send any ideas to helen.arbon@gmail.com or text her on 07587 170461. The more people who contribute ideas, the more variety we’ll have.

Socials success

In 2023, spearheaded by Helen Arbon, we introduced more regular SDS social gatherings mostly tied in with our regular last Sunday of the month bar meet ups.  

The varied social fare has included bar quizzes, a kayaking session, 'Bingo in the Bar' and the ever-popular Bar Humbug.
