SDS was approached by the organisers of Sudbury's VJ Day commemoration event to take part in the re-enactment of a plaque unveiling ceremoney that took place when the American airforce servicemen based at local airbases left Sudbury at the end of the war.

It involved recreating the presentation of a plaque to the mayor and people of Sudbury, and four SDS people took part: Sara Knight as MC of the proceedings along with Malcolm Hollister, Matt Byham and Mark Scanlon as the American servicemen. For Malcolm and Mark it was another opportunity to costume up in American uniforms following their appearances in Pressure, our May drama set in the war. Indeed, the main organiser of the VJ Day event was inspired to approach SDS to take part having seen this production.

We were delighted to take part in what proved to be a successful and well attended event.
